Yoga & Yarrow

The plants are ready to hold you.

So many of us are feeling the weight of the world as we watch everything we've known shift and change.  The pressure and stress long term can take a toll on our body, mind and spirit.  We're so deeply honored to invite you for a day of leaving the stress behind and remembering who you are.  The plants have a way of holding us in our stress and grief and reminding us of our sacred heart, who we are and why we are here.  So we are providing a sacred container for you to connect to yourself, each other and the plants for an afternoon.

Our vision for this farm from the very beginning has been to welcome in community.  This land is meant to bestow magic.

We are so excited to offer a magical day, created to help you immerse into the magic of the forest.

We have chosen Yarrow (or maybe she chose us) as our plant of focus for your herbal workshop.  You will experience her in person in her natural habitat and come away having a relationship and story with this plant.  Yarrow is incredibly versatile in the medicine she offers so this is a wonderful herbal ally to have.

Your morning yoga practice will be on what we call our Yoga Deck, surrounded by trees and the wild prairie habitat on our land.  Your flow with Naomi will be accompanied by a fresh breeze and the sounds of the morning birds.  And who knows what other wildlife will say hello!

Your afternoon will be topped off with a fresh and vibrant lunch, created by Audrey and made with so much love and nourishment.  Be prepared to not only come home to yourself but also find community around the table.

You will leave having connected to the forest, to Yarrow, to each other and to yourself.

We are honored to welcome you to Yoga and Yarrow.

In Deep Gratitude,

Naomi and Audrey

Heart-opening Yoga in the forest

Your morning will start with a beautiful heart opening practice with Naomi on our yoga deck, surrounded by wildness and forest.  Listen to the songs of the birds and sink into the suns rays and the quiet sound of the trees dancing as Naomi leads you through your forest yoga class.  This will be a regenerative flow and offer a time to connect in movement with yourself, the others in the class and to the natural world surrounding the space.

Yarrow Immersion and Workshop

You will meet Yarrow in the gardens, learn how to identify her and be given space to sit with her and feel her energy.  Audrey will lead you through a workshop about Yarrow.  We will sit with her to hear her messages for us.  You will learn about her diverse powers and how to make medicines with her.  You will leave with your own Yarrow tincture, a full handout to take home and more gifts from the garden.

Enjoy a farm fresh lunch to top off the afternoon

You will be served a vibrant nutritious lunch - farm style -  to top off the afternoon.  The fare will be gluten-free and offer plant-based options for those who need and desire.

Lunch will be topped off with something sweet and include a delicious herbal elixir.

This is a beautiful time to break bread together and connect, human to human.

Event Itinerary

10:00 am: We will all meet at the Delaware Picnic Shelter in Fort Harrison State Park and spend some time mingling and getting to know one another.

10:15 - 11:45 am: Your half-day experience will begin with a 1-hour outdoor yoga class. This will be a calming, centering yoga flow for all levels that will focus on gentle movements and stretches to wake up the body and get your blood flowing. Directly following your yoga class, you will be led through a 20-minute guided meditation to set a positive tone for the rest of the day. Coming out of your yoga and meditation, you will be left feeling calm yet energized.

11:45 am - 12:45 pm: As a group, we'll take a 2-mile moderate hike along the beautiful, wooded Fall Creek Trail. Enjoy scenic views of the trees in their peak fall colors.

12:45 pm - 2:00 pm: Upon returning from your hike, the picnic table will be set and the food will be served. This will be a buffet-style, plant-based brunch featuring all local organic ingredients. We will end our day in fellowship as we nourish our bodies.

Q & A

Q: What should I wear?

A: Since this event is in mid-October, the temperature could range anywhere from the mid-50's to 70 degrees. The day will likely start out on the chillier side, so wear layers. I would suggest bringing a hat or something to cover your ears as well. You can do yoga barefoot or in socks, but bring shoes that you can hike in.

Q: What should I bring?

A: Please bring your own yoga mat if you have one (we will have a few extra mats if you need to borrow one).

Q: How much does it cost to get into Fort Harrison State Park?

A: Without a state parks pass, it is $7.00 per vehicle to enter the park. If you are attending this event with a friend, we would encourage you to carpool so you only have to pay one fee to get in!

Q: How will parking work once I get into the park?

A: There are ample parking spaces right in front of our picnic shelter.

Q: How will I know how to find where to go once I get into the park?

A: Ask the park attendant for instructions, and grab a free map on your way in. Once you enter, there are plenty of signs pointing you towards the Delaware Shelter. You can also text Taylor or Naomi for help. Here is a PDF map of Fort Harrison State Park:

https://www.in.gov/dnr/state-parks/files/ftharrison_trail.pdf

Q: Can I come even if I don't have any experience with yoga?

A: Absolutely! The yoga class will be a slow, gentle flow catered to all levels.

Q: Are there restrooms nearby?

A: Yes, there are restrooms directly across from our picnic shelter.

Q: Who is hosting this event?

A: This event is hosted by Taylor Baker and Naomi Murtagh. We went through our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training together and became good friends in the process! This will be our first time hosting together and we are so excited to bring our vision of this retreat to life.
